In Memory of Our Founder

Dr. Samuel Ogbozae Oguh (1939–2025) - "The Scribe"

Dr. Samuel Ogbozae Oguh

Samuel Ogbozae Oguh (1939–2025), fondly known as "Ogbozae" and revered as "the Scribe," lived a life distinguished by intellectual excellence, an unwavering passion for education, and dedicated service to his community. From humble beginnings in Uzere Kingdom, Isoko South LGA, Delta State, he rose through determination and lifelong learning to become an accomplished educator, scholar, and mentor whose impact spanned generations.

His academic journey began at Native Authority School, Uzere, in 1949, where his brilliance quickly became evident. Although financial constraints prevented him from taking up an early admission to the prestigious Government College Ughelli in 1956, his zeal for education remained undiminished. He proceeded to Local Authority Secondary Modern School, Aviara, where he successfully completed his Secondary Modern School Leaving Certificate in 1959. This early setback only strengthened his resolve to pursue knowledge relentlessly.

Ogbozae went on to build an impressive academic portfolio in teacher education. In 1962, he earned his TC III certificate from the Western Ijaw Divisional Teachers' Training College and further advanced his professional competence with a TC II certificate from St. Michael's College, Oleh, between 1964 and 1965. These qualifications laid a solid foundation for his distinguished career in teaching and educational leadership.

Demonstrating an extraordinary commitment to lifelong learning, Ogbozae returned to formal education decades later. In the 1980/81 academic session, he enrolled at the College of Education, Afuze, where he obtained the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) with distinction, overcoming significant personal and professional challenges. His academic pursuit reached its zenith in 1982 when he gained admission into the University of Ibadan, Nigeria's premier university. There, he studied Physical and Health Education and graduated with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree in the 1983/84 academic session.

In recognition of his scholarly dedication, educational influence, and contributions to Christian education, Ogbozae was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Christian Education on October 4, 2014, by the College of Theology and Seminary, Irri, in affiliation with the Golden State School of Theology, USA. This honor crowned a lifetime of intellectual service and affirmed his role as both a teacher of minds and a moulder of character.

Throughout his life, Ogbozae consistently used education as a tool for empowerment, community development, and moral guidance. Whether as a classroom teacher, a sports educator, a university coach, or a prolific writer and organizer, his belief in education as the foundation of personal and societal progress never wavered. His legacy endures as that of a disciplined scholar, a passionate educator, and a lifelong student whose pen, knowledge, and example continue to inspire.

The vision is therefore to help indigent children get quality education, become socially responsible and to become who God destined them to be.
